Airlie Beach to Butterfly Bay

Posted by on June 26, 2011

All shipshape for another stint on the water, we said our farewells to mum and dad and the Cumberland crew and headed out around 10:30.  Put in a #1 reef and reduced the jib, and Xtsea handled the 20-25 knots and 2-3m seas with aplomb.

We headed for Butterfly Bay, and made 8-10 knots (peaking at 11.2) across the Passage.  Into the lee of Hook we slowed slightly, but took Black Island to starboard before trimming  sail to sneak between the fringing reefs off Black and Hayman.  Motored up and got into Butterfly Bay around 2pm, grabbing a mooring deep into the bay.

Spent the afternoon reading and doing a bit of a stocktake before a great dinner of curry and watching ‘The A-Team’
